Phi Beta Fraternity

Today’s the last day for early Convention Registration. Register online at http://phibeta.com/register.html or use the registration form available at http://www.phibeta.com/registration.pdf

Look back a bit and reflect on some of your fondest Phi Beta experiences. Are those priceless memories rooted in a certain treasured friendship? Has this bond influenced you, or been a strength? Or perhaps you recall a dream once mentored by a Phi Beta Patron. Wouldn’t it be a joy to honor the individual who was the source of inspiration?

In conjunction with our Fraternity’s centennial, I enthusiastically invite ALL Phi Betas to celebrate those memories. For whatever dollar denomination you choose to donate, you may do so in the name of that special individual. A commemorative booklet with the honoree’s name and the name of the person so doing the honoring will be distributed at the Centennial convention in Columbus in July, 2012. You may recognize more than one person. He or she can be a member or patron, living or deceased. Additionally, you may include a brief note of thanks to the honoree(s). For each name you choose to recognize, any donation to the Loyalty Fund will be gratefully accepted.

A Wish for Leaders

I sincerely wish you will have the experience of thinking up a new idea, planning it, organizing it, and following it to completion and having it be magnificently successful.  I also hope you’ll go through the same process and have something “bomb out.”

I wish you could know how it feels “to run” with all your heart and lose - horribly.

I wish that you could achieve some great good for mankind, but have nobody know about it except you.

I wish you could find something so worthwhile that you deem it worthy of investing your life.

I hope you become frustrated and challenged enough to begin to push back the very barriers of your own personal limitations.

I hope you make a stupid, unethical mistake and get caught red-handed and are big enough to say those magic words “I was wrong.”

I hope you give so much of yourself that some days you wonder if it is worth it all.

I wish for you a magnificent obsession that will give you a reason for living and purpose and direction in life.

I wish for you the worst kind of criticism for everything you do, because that makes you fight to achieve beyond what you normally would.

I wish for you the experience of leadership.

The first video post in our weekly inspirational series.

VIDEO DESCRIPTION/TRANSCRIPT: Video by Phired Up of several photos of fraternity and sorority members set to music (“21 Guns”). Series of text flashes on the screen. Text:

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself what you really want your fraternity or sorority to be?

What do you really want?

I want my fraternity to be BOLD.

I want my sorority to be STRONG.

I want it to last beyond my years.

I want my sorority to help others.

I want my fraternity to LIFT people up.

I want my fraternity…

I want my sorority…

to believe in something and to show those beliefs to the world.

I want my fraternity to last FOREVER.

I want my sorority to be better than when I joined.

I want us to redefine excellence

To change lives for the better

I don’t want my fraternity to be held hostage by lesser members.

I want us to STOP doing things that jeopardize our future.

I want us to take a stand to be SEEN and HEARD.

I want us to be better than our highest aspirations.

I want us to SHOW UP.

To embody the teachings of our Ritual.

I want us to stop waiting

It’s time.

I want us to ELEVATE to a place we can only dream of.

To be more than we are today.

What will it take to get what you want?

A good place to start is to find others…

who want the same things.

Let’s get started.

Does joining a sorority or fraternity really give you an advantage after graduation?
